Happy Hair Happy Planet Challenge

Eco Hair challenge you!

It is easy to get stuck in a routine and your hair care is no different.

We are exposed to constant marketing information from businesses whose aim is to get as many people using as much product as possible for commercial ends. It is therefore important to have independent sources of evidence, especially when using or over-using unnecessary products that can be damaging to hair, to our heating bills (heating water costs is typically the highest energy consuming activity that takes place in our homes) and to the environment.

You could be surprised in how changing your hair care routine can effect the health of your hair.

We met Emily and Helena (seen in the lovely photo above) the other day and were blown away by their beautiful hair! We asked them how they cared for it and they replied that as a result of our suggestions have only washed their hair with conditioner NOTHING ELSE since September. We know this may not work for everyone’s hair but why not give it a go?

With this in mind, we have three hair challenges for you:

1.Dry Shampoo –
To take part instead of usual shampoo try dry shampoo just once in a week. Then fill in the survey and let us know any differences in hair condition.
There are many formulations of dry shampoo, but the process for each is the same – it is rubbed into the hair and then brushed out. Even corn starch or talcum powder are commonly used. It does not matter what kind you use.

2. Shampoo Less –
Does using less shampoo effect your hair? To take part you need to reduce using shampoo by at least one day for 2 weeks. Then fill in the survey so we know any differences in hair condition.

For example if you shampoo every day, then shampoo every other day or if you shampoo every 3 days, then shampoo every 4 days etc. Please don’t  use any more amount of shampoo in the following wash – just the same as you usually do.  It is OK to just use water inbetween shampoos.

Please make a note if the effects on hair after 2 weeks are any different to the effects on hair after just one week, as it may be the case that your hair will adjust to less frequent shampooing and effects may change over time.

3.Hair Conditioner –
Stop using conditioner. That simple.

This challenge only applies to those who sometimes apply conditioner to their hair after shampooing. Before you complete this survey you should have stopped using conditioner at least once after shampooing.
